Furnitures  Gorget  Yetso  Mr. Crimb  Righto & Wrongo  Children

In the pilot episode, entitled "Start" we are introduced to the characters, with the exception of Mr. Crimb who, at this point, had not yet joined the show.  Yetso and his pirate crew arrive in their merry ship "Aquifer" at Furnitures' home, which is referred to here as "The Playground" (but never again in subsequent episodes).  Yetso's mysterious crew rarely makes an appearance after this pilot, for it was later decided that this facet of the show should be deemphasized.   In the still on the left, we see Yetso and a pirate minion awaiting the welcome of the inhabitants of "The Playground".   During the course of shooting, Furnitures was confused and ill-at-ease with his new role as TV actor, and an assistant (seen with clown nose and top hat) was hired to lift Furnitures' arms at appropriate times.   Here, he lifts Furnitures' arms in salutation for the arrival of the newcomers.   Phyllis runs towards the fiendish but merry group of swashbucklers to offer them her own personal welcome: the presentation of a single flower.

The second episode was the first to feature Mr. Crimb.  He was brought on board to play the part of 'Pasters' the lovable silent wolf pup.   Clearly too old to be a puppy, Mr. Crimb demanded the producers change his role to a more talkative and mature veteran wolfhound.   They refused to meet his demands, and that's why we've got the pup that we do!   Mr. Crimb made the decision to go ahead with the role despite the producers' decision, seeing it as a performance worthy of his caliber.   On the first day of filming, Mr. Crimb notified the many child stars in the production that they would have to address him with the proper amount of respect.   He was to be called Mr. Crimb at all times - not Crimb, not Crimby, and absolutely not Crimb-Crimbiny-Crimb-Crimb.   The children complied.   During the actual filming of the episode, they went against the script and continued to call him Mr. Crimb instead of 'Pasters'.   The producers, not even having noticed the change, failed to have the scenes reshooted, and then used the name Mr. Crimb in all future Furnitures scripts.   Mr. Crimb was quoted as saying the situation was "highly unorthodox".   In this episode, entitled "Furnitures, Where Are You?", Mr. Crimb looks for the hiding Furnitures.   He is helped out in this task by the Children, who point out his master's whereabouts.   Hilarity ensues as Mr. Crimb fails to notice Furnitures each and every time despite the Children's aid.   Some top notch acting by Mr. Crimb.  Unfortunately, Furnitures still needed some extra help hiding and moving.
